It’s been a long, sometimes somewhat too slow summer for Fortnite fans, with Chapter 4 – Season 3 being one of the game’s more mixed summer seasons to date. From a very slow start right up until a hectic few weeks following the end of Epic’s summer vacation, it’s been a very up and down 78 days of Fortnite content, but one that must finally come to an end as we look forward to a new season. But if you’re trying to pencil some free building time into your schedule, you’re probably wondering when Fortnite: Chapter 4 – Season 3 will come to an end.

Fortnite: Chapter 4 – Season 3 will finish on August 25th, 2023, meaning that Season 3 will have lasted for a total of 78 days after starting on June 9th, 2023. This actually makes it one of the game’s shorter seasons, even if it’s felt like it’s sagged a little bit in terms of momentum due to inconsistent content updates. The game will go into downtime roughly around 8 AM BST / 2 AM CT / 1 AM PT before returning as Chapter 4 – Season 4 around five or so hours later, just based off of the launch times of other seasons.

Fortnite: Chapter 4 – Season 3, also known as Wilds, has been the 25th overall season of Fortnite, which is some achievement for a game that was considered a bit of a disappointment when it launched. Featuring a jungle theme revolving around exploration and discovery, Wilds included the likes of Optimus Prime in the Battle Pass and also brought back Slone as a major character in Fortnite lore after she was previously thought to have perished, and now seemingly separated from IO.

In terms of new content, Wilds introduced the aforementioned jungle biome as well as new locations like Rumble Ruins, Creeky Compound, and Shady Stilts. New items included the likes of the Flapjack Rifle, Kinetic Boomerang, and Cybertron Cannon, which took the seasonal spot of “definitely bit overpowered” new weapon. Wilds even introduced the ability to disguise yourself with mud and unlock strange jungle vaults.

New content past the season launch was slow right up until the season’s final few weeks, which saw a slew of new collaborations with the likes of WWE, Jujutsu Kaisen, Futurama, and even The Terminator. Early August also saw the introduction of a new POI in the shape of Lonely Labyrinth, with the island also gaining the addition of The Apparatus, a unique projector that was used to find “The Eclipse” and now seems to be endangering the Fortnite island once again.

In terms of story, the season has very much been one all about in-game storytelling, so unless you care much for the lore and actively seek it out, you’re probably missing out on all the details, especially as there’s no event. Things are slowly cooking back up after a long period of very little, with Season 4 likely to make The Apparatus a very big deal as we inch closer to the presumed launch of Chapter 5 later in 2023.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
