It’s time to brush off your architecture and city-building skills because the long-awaited sequel to Cities: Skylines is coming this October. The only question now is: where exactly is it coming to? Specifically, is Cities: Skylines 2 coming to Nintendo Switch?
Unfortunately, you’re better off exploring cities and worlds with Zelda and Mario on the Switch rather than building them. Cities: Skylines 2 will not be launching on the Nintendo Switch. The Switch isn’t the only console being left behind. Cities: Skylines 2 is only launching on PC and the latest-gen consoles. So, the PS4 and Xbox One won’t be in on the action as well.
Besides, would you even want to play Cities: Skylines 2 on the Nintendo Switch? The first Cities: Skylines is currently on the Switch, and while it handles fairly well at first, things get shakier the more you play.
As your city grows and becomes more complex, your device also needs more power to render it onto your screen. Framerates with the Switch drop pretty quickly once your city develops. Not only that, but with the Switch’s small resolution, you’ll have trouble seeing anything. Cities: Skylines is known for how dense the buildings, roads, and vehicles can be.
If the developers think the PS4 and Xbox One couldn’t handle Cities: Skylines 2, imagine the nightmarish lag it’ll produce on the Nintendo Switch. Maybe things are better off this way.

These factors include traffic, comfort, and even the individual behavior of your citizens. Traffic has always been one of the most intricate features of Cities: Skylines, so it’s nice to see it evolving.
Another upgrade from the first entry is the scale of the cities you can build. You can now build cities larger and farther than ever.

Cities: Skylines 2 is coming on October 24th, 2023 to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-ordering it will give players access to 9 unique landmark buildings based on real landmarks.
