When Is The Spy X Family Movie Being Released?
The Spy x Family movie is coming out on Friday, December 22, 2023. The release date was announced through the official Spy x Family website and a key visual that came out simultaneously.
It’s surprising that the release date came out so soon since Season 2 doesn’t even have a specific date yet. Season 2 is coming out sometime in October, but the day is still unknown.
What Is The Spy X Family Movie About?
Based on the short teaser trailer, the incoming Spy x Family movie will be about the Forger family going on a trip. Is it a genuine vacation or another WISE cover-up to send Loid on a secret mission?
Fortunately, you don’t have to have psychic powers to know what the trip is for. The official Spy x Family website already has a synopsis out for the Spy x Family movie.
Operation Strix has been going slower than expected, and WISE is now thinking of replacing the head of the operation. That seems to imply Loid, but it’s still unclear.
However, the person they want to replace the current head with appears to be seriously incompetent. Loid must find a way to prove to the higher-ups that Operation Strix has actually been making good progress.
Fortunately for him, an opportunity opens up. Eden Academy is hosting a cooking competition with a Stella as a potential reward. Loid decides to train Anya to cook a special dish from the Frigis region, hence their family trip.
As usual, trouble follows the Forger family on their trip. Anya discovers a secret that might threaten the peace between Westalis and Ostania.
Which Studio Is Making The Spy X Family Movie?
Similar to Season 2, the Spy x Family movie will be produced by TOHO Animation and Shueisha. It will also be animated by Wit Studio and CloverWorks.
These four companies have been working on Spy x Family since the first season and have yet to disappoint. They’re not new to making huge hit anime too. Attack On Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Vinland Saga have all come from some of the companies mentioned above.
Where To Watch Spy X Family
Spy x Family in general is available on multiple streaming platforms. You can find both parts of Season 1 on Amazon Prime Video, Bilibili, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix, depending on your region. Season 2 should also come out on these platforms.
However, anime movies don’t always come out on the same platforms as the rest of their series. So check in every now and then for updates on where the Spy x Family movie could come out.
Of course, the Spy x Family movie will be released in theaters first before anywhere else. Check with your local theaters to see if they’ll show it.
