Where will Fortnite: Chapter 4 – Season 3 sit among the best ever seasons of the game? How about the game’s best ever summer seasons? While time will probably be the judge of that and what kind of legacy it leaves behind, it’s time to look forward to the future of the game and the long-awaited start of Fortnite: Chapter 4 – Season 4. But when exactly should you be limbering up your pickaxe arm?

Fortnite: Chapter 4 – Season 4 is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 25th, 2023 following the conclusion of Season 3 on the same day. Judging from recent seasons, the game will go into downtime on 8 AM BST / 2 AM CT / 1 AM PT on the 25th and then return as a brand spanking new season around noon time in the UK, breakfast time in the US. Long delays do sometimes happen with new season launches if Epic ever finds technical issues, but it should still launch around that time.

As for what’s in store for Season 4, expect a heist or spy theme, much like what we saw back in Chapter 2. Epic has so far begun teasing a lot of security-laser filled previews of what to expect from the new season, and even started showcasing some of the Battle Pass skins early (presumably to avoid inevitable leaks) while regularly asking “Are you in?” to their social media audience.

Content creators have also been getting some early glimpses at Season 4 ahead of time, and it appears that they’ve managed to find teasers for new items, too. That includes Midas’ Drum Gun, suggesting that he will be returning in some fashion, which makes sense considering he was first introduced in a similarly themed season.

New POIs are also due to arrive for the upcoming season to the Fortnite island, including the likes of Sanguine Suites and what could very well be an updated version of The Agency, Midas’ old base of operations.

In terms of story, it will be interesting to see what Epic does and where they go from here, as so far this chapter we’ve seen really very little in the way of significant changes apart from what’s been told via in-game quests. The Apparatus, which Slone has a great interest in, will no doubt come to the fore more and more over the course of the season, which is expected to the final one in Chapter 4 if Epic is keeping to this new tradition of shorter chapters. It would be hugely surprising to see no event at all in Season 4, though, as we haven’t had one all throughout Chapter 4. You can put safe money on at least on of The Seven returning.

As for how long Season 4 will be, the equivalent one from Chapter 3 lasted until early December. You can expect something similar with Season 4, as Epic will look to maximize interest in the game as children break up from school for the holiday season.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
