Nothing "Rad" about this tough baddie.

To help you to get a grasp on things early on, Blasphemous 2 sets you up from the very start with a list of the main baddies you will have to seek out and kill if you want to be successful in your journey. However, the first one that you’re likely to run into after the tutorial boss is Preceptor Radames.

A skeletal priest whose body is pierced all over by shards of broken glass, Preceptor Radames is as horrifying a boss as you’d expect in a Blasphemous game. He’s also a tough nut to crack in terms of putting him down for the count. Still, you can make the fight a bit easier on yourself by following our boss guide below and ensuring you have every advantage imaginable.

How to Defeat Great Preceptor Radames in Blasphemous 2

The first thing you’re going to want to do here actually comes before the fight. There is a mysterious spear-wielding woman who you will meet twice before you battle Preceptor Radames. The second time, she will ask you if you want her assistance in battle. If you choose to accept her help, she will be invaluable in the fight with Radames, taking big chunks out of his health regularly throughout the battle.

As for the battle itself, Radames has a few broad attacks in the first half of the fight. He uses an overhead swing, and a ground smash with his staff, both of which are telegraphed beforehand and can be avoided by running away or sliding. He also launches purple fireballs, which must either be ducked under or jumped over. Note that if you jump toward him, you can also strike him while avoiding the fireballs.

Radames also uses a glass-throwing attack that you will want to slide out of the way of and a rush attack that you will have to avoid by kicking off of the wall and leaping over him with good timing. While it might seem like you have him on the ropes in no time, though, this Blasphemous 2 boss has a gruesome trick up his sleeve. When Radames loses three-quarters of his health, he will crack open his shrouded staff and begin eating the dead baby encased within.

While you can attack during this lengthy animation, your hits are reduced to 1HP per attack, rendering it basically useless. Sadly, Radames will also have half of his health back, making this a challenging second stage to overcome. His moves stay mostly the same but are now harder to avoid. For instance, he’s taller, making it more difficult to dodge his rush move, and he shoots more fireballs than he did before.

He will also use a technique that sees sharp glass rise out of the earth and rotate around the room. Again, while jumping over this, if you jump toward him, you can get some hits in as you avoid the attack. He will also launch a scythe attack from his arm, similar to the staff attacks from earlier, and he will be able to make it rain down chunks of stone.

All of these new attacks can also be avoided with a bit of practice by either running, jumping, or sliding. Even better, if you keep the heat on Great Preceptor Radames while watching for his tells, then you’ll have this boney monstrosity out of your way for good after just a few focused attempts.
