As is the case with many souls-likes, Blasphemous 2 starts by teaching you the basics of the game before tossing you into the fire. Though you at least get to decide what type of weapon you want to use, rather than being consigned to a single type of attack pattern, many players might find themselves struggling with the game’s first proper hurdle, The Faceless One.

However, after a few proper attempts at taking down The Faceless One, Chisel of Oblivion, the battle starts to become a bit more manageable. If you’re still struggling, though, fear not. We’ve got an ironclad strategy that will help you to defeat this ghastly bit of religious terror no matter what kind of fighting style or weapon you’ve chosen.

The Faceless One will leap into action somewhat unexpectedly when you first come upon her. A whirling dervish of spinning blades and deadly recall, the creature will attack without mercy, but The Faceless One can actually be overcome relatively easily once you notice their patterns.

Luckily, The Faceless One only uses a few different attacks in Blasphemous 2, and all of them can be avoided if you watch closely. When The Faceless One leaps up, she will aim her saw blade at you and hurl it in your direction. To avoid this, simply slide out of the way after the saw leaves her hand to dodge the attack.

After this, you can leap over to her and take a few quick swings at her before jumping over the saw, as she will recall it to her. The other main attack she uses is a whirling blade attack that travels across the ground from one side of the arena to the other. To avoid this, just jump over it with proper timing, and you’ll be just fine.

Otherwise, all you need to do is keep chipping away at her with whichever weapon you selected. What’s good about this fight is that it will help you to master how and when to use the weapon you selected against a difficult, fast-moving foe. This is an essential skill and something that will come in handy immediately after the fight, as you’re introduced to a myriad of new foes to best along the way to the next area.
